What Is a Clinical Hypnotherapist?




A qualified clinical hypnotherapist can help you!

Hypnosis, achieved with the help of a clinical hypnotherapist, is a naturally occurring altered state of awareness in which the part of your brain that controls conscious critical analysis shuts down, and becomes willing to accept suggestion. Here are the basics:
  • The conscious critical part of your mind is responsible for reasoning, evaluating, and judging;

  • If you want to make any sort of positive change in your life, you can benefit from working with a clinical hypnotherapist.
  • How?

    Suppose you want to become a calmer, more relaxed person. If I were to simply say “you are a calm person” while you were wide awake, the judging and evaluating part of your mind would most likely reject this suggestion, based on and existing belief in your subconscious mind that contradicts this statement.

    However, once you enter a deep state of relaxation, this part shuts down and allows me to give your subconscious mind an alternate positive suggestion, which will begin the process of challenging that original belief.


    What is the Success Rate of Hypnotherapy?

    Hypnotherapy is successful most of the time for most people (statistics are believed to be around 87%). As far as I know, there is no treatment, conventional or alternative, that has a 100% success rate with 100% of the population.....so that's a pretty good strike rate!


    How do I know if I'm hypnotised?

    If I had a dollar for every time one of my new clients asked “Was I hypnotized?” after their first session, I’d be a very wealthy woman!

    You have probably been in a state of hypnosis many times throughout your life. Have you ever driven to work and then realised that you have almost no recall of the journey? Or maybe you were sitting in a lecture and you missed everything the lecturer was saying because you were daydreaming about what you were going to have for lunch?

    In both of these examples, you are in a trance state. This is a natural, normal state that we all go in and out of, throughout the course of each day.

    And just like daydreaming, you are aware of your surroundings when you are under hypnosis, only it's as though you don’t care, or simply aren’t paying attention. In fact, it is normal to remember everything that happens during the session.


    Can a clinical hypnotherapist take control of my mind or read my thoughts?

    So you’re worried that I’m going to make you “cluck like a chicken” hey? Well stop worrying! No one can “make” you do anything that you would not normally have a predisposition to do.

  • You are in control at all times, and you can choose to end the session at any point;

  • There are no “hidden doorways” to your deepest and darkest secrets available to any therapist;

  • ALL hypnosis is self-hypnosis
